Supporting the Health &
Wellbeing of Dancers
Drawing on over 15 years of experience teaching dance in Higher Education, my practice is grounded in evidence-based methods that support balanced, mindful training aligned with both studio work and performance.
Classes and workshops are tailored to individual clients or students and can be practical, theoretical, or a combination of both. Practically I work with dancers using Pilates conditioning as the basis for complementary training with dance science knowledge underpinning my approach. Lecture-based workshops and classes focus on the application of kinesiology, psychology, and somatic practices in the dance context.
Through this work dancers will gain a better understanding of how to train in a safe and effective way enabling them to push boundaries whilst also taking care of their physical and mental health.
Dance for Health
As a researcher, my work investigates how dance can be used as a means to health and wellbeing for other populations including those with neurological and neurodivergent conditions.
My research advocates for collaborative, person-centred approaches that place participants' voices and their embodied experiences at the heart of the work.
